  • Does my child need to have experience to practice Diving?
    No. Your child does not need to have any experience to start diving.
  • How old does my child needs to be to start practice?
    Youe child needs to be at least 6 year old and must swim comfortable in the deep end.
  • My child has not taken diving classes before. Where should I start?
    If this is the first time your child takes diving lessons, he or she will start with the Learn to Dive program. The goal of this program is to introduce basic diving skills required for the safe practice of diving. After finishing the Learn To Dive program (8 Lessons), divers will be moved to the Future Champions program. Children will take a minimum of two lessons per week. Lessons will be scheduled on availability. Contact us for scheduling
  • Is the Miami Diving a competitive team?
    Yes! The Miami Diving team is a competitive program. We are part of the Florida Gold Coast Diving Association, United States Diving, and the Athletic Amateur Union. ​The team participates in competitions for different levels: club, regional and National Championships level.
  • What is your COVID-19 Protocol?
    COVID Positive or Diver Under Investigation (DUI) Divers who display Covid symptoms during camp will be isolated and parents will be contacted for immediate pick up. Any diver who is showing COVID symptoms is to remain quarantined until the results of the test are known. Any diver with another non-COVID illness must remain at home until 24 hours post-symptom resolution without use of medication. Parents are responsible for COVID testing their Divers on their own. If diver tests positive, the program director must be immediately notified. Parents should call 305-284-2200 to notify UTRACE. DUI will not be allowed to return until a negative test has been submitted to the diving office (via email), which after clearance from camp office, will be allowed to return the next day. Any positive diver/staff must quarantine for 10 + 1 days, assuming symptom resolution. The parent/diver/staff member must participate in UTRACE, the University’s contact tracing initiative. UTRACE will identify close contacts associated with any University-sponsored camp ONLY. All close contacts will be required to quarantine for 7 days and show proof of a negative PCR test result (via email) prior to return to campus. Close Contacts A group with a positive camper will quarantine for seven days. The entire group will be considered close contacts, regardless of actual interaction/physical distancing between the positive camper and other group members. At five to six days post-exposure, all Divers and staff affiliated with the group must be tested and show proof of negative PCR test result (via email) before returning to practice, unless fully vaccinated (proof of vaccination required). Siblings of positive Divers will be considered close contacts and required to quarantine for 7 days. At five to six days post-exposure, they should be tested and provide proof of negative PCR test result (via email) before returning to practice. Divers/parents must also disclose if a diver was exposed to COVID. All “close contacts” must quarantine for 7 days and show proof of a negative PCR test result before returning to practice (via email), unless fully vaccinated (proof of vaccination required). If any person within in a diver’s household tests positive for COVID (parent/sibling/etc.), the diver will be considered a close contact and must remain home in quarantine for 7 days and show proof of a negative PCR test result before returning to practice (via email), unless fully vaccinated (proof of vaccination required).
  • How do I register my child?
    You must contact out office to check on availability. Once you have the schedule set to register for the Learn to Dive, Future Champion or Junior Olympics, you must register your child with USA Diving and AAU (Athletic Amateur Union) organization first. Below you will find links and instructions on how to register with both organization. After registering with both organizations, then you can fill out our online lessons registration.

    USA Diving is the governing body for the sport. To register folllow the instructions below: If this is the first time registering wit USA Diving, click on Join USA Diving. If you already have a membership, log in and renew your membership. For Learn to Dive and Future Champions and Junior Olympic (JO) divers training and competing at a local level, select Athlete (17U $40 or FINA 18+ $40) For Junior Olympic (JO) divers competing at Regional, Zones, and National Championships select Competition Athlete (17U $200 or FINA 18+ $200) Membership . Note: FINA 18+ are those divers that will turn 18 years old by 12/31 of the respective year (Example: If a diver turns 18 on December 15th,the diver is consider FINA 18+) Select the Local Diving Association in which you reside or train: FLA Gold Coast. Select the club with which you train or are affiliated: Miami Diving. Fill out your child’s information then click continue and waiver. Then you will be ask to pay with MasterCard or Visa.     RELEASE OF LIABILITY WAIVER AND MEDICAL TREATMENT CONSENT: In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in United States Diving, Inc., Athletic Amateur Union, the Miami Diving Team, Camps or lessons program, the undersigned: 1. Agree that prior to participating, or in case of a minor participant, the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will instruct the minor participant that prior to participating, he or she should inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if the participant believes that there is anything unsafe, he or she shall immediately advise his or her coach or supervisor of such condition(s) and refuse to participate. 2. Acknowledge and fully understands that each participants will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, severe social and economic losses that might result not only from their action, but the actions, inaction, or negligence of others, the rules of play, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, that may be other risks not known to us or not reasonable foreseeable at this time. 3. Assume all forgoing risk and accept personal responsibility for damages following such injuries, disability or death. 4. Release, waive, discharge and convent not to sue United State Diving, Inc., Athletic Amateur Union, Miami Diving, the University of Miami, its affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, coaches and other employees of the organization, other participants, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “releases,” from any or all liability to each of the undersigned, his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasee or otherwise. 5. I/We the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) authorize, coaches or official to consent to any examination, anesthetic, X-ray, medical or surgical diagnosis or treatment and/or hospital care to be rendered to the minor under the general or special supervision and on the advice of any physician or surgeon licensed to practice when efforts to contact us are unsuccessful. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) represent that the participant(s) has medical insurance coverage through below insurance company. This consent is granted for as long as the minor is a member of the Miami Diving Team. 6. COVID-19 Liability Release Waiver: The undersigned hereby acknowledges of the existence of the risk on my child (children) appearance to the venue and my child (children) participation to the activity of Miami Diving that may cause injury or illness such as, but not limited to Influenza, MRSA, or COVID-19 that may lead to paralysis or death. With full knowledge of the risks involved, the undersigned hereby release, waive, discharge the Miami Diving, the University of Miami, its board, officers, independent contractors, affiliates, employees, representatives, successors, and assigns from any and all liabilities, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever, directly or indirectly arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death, that may be sustained by my child (children) related to COVID-19 while participating in any activity while in, on, or around the premises or while using the facilities that may lead to unintentional exposure or harm due to COVID-19. 7. PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE: I hereby authorize Miami Diving, the University of Miami and the members of its staff to take such photographs, for websites, television recordings and/or live television transmission of the registrant in whole, or in part, as they or members of the staff may wish, and to use and publish the same in such places and publications as the University of Miami or its staff in its sole discretion consider to be of benefit to said University. I hereby waive any rights that I may have to inspect and/or approve the finished product that may be used here under or the specific use to which it may be applied. PARENT’S AGREEMENT The Miami Diving Team shall from time to time, adopt rules and regulations that it feels are necessary for the proper, orderly, and effective operation of the program. All those applying for membership and signing this form agree to be bound by those rules and regulation, fee, schedules, and late charges as they may now exist or as they may be modified in the future. RULES AND REGULATIONS: The Miami Diving Team is a year round program. Our official season begins in September and ends on August 31st of each year. By signing this contract or submitting online registration, you are bound to training and paying on a quarterly base: Session 1 September 1st – November 31st, Session 2 December 1st – February 31st, Session 3 March 1st – May 31st. Session 4 June 1st – August 31st only if classes are available. Payments are due the 1st of each month. This apply to Future Champions and JO programs. For cancellation of this contract: Notice of cancellation must be submitted in writing to the membership billing office by the following dates November 20th, February 20th, May 20th, or August 20th of the current year prior to the end of each quarter. Otherwise, this contract will automatically renew for the following quarterly session. No credits or refunds will be issued if a member misses a workout or for holydays. Dues are not prorated and are payable monthly with a quarterly commitment. If a diver stops coming at any time during the quarterly session, the whole quarterly session must be paid in full. No credits or refunds will be issue if divers are sent home due to COVID protocol. An annual registration fee of $90.00 is charged at the time of joining. This fee is charged September 1st each year thereafter. There will be make up classes only for illness with a doctor’s note. There will be no make ups for any other reason. DIVING MEET FEES: We understand the Miami Diving team is a competitive program. Once divers are moved to the Future Champions program, we will be provided with a calendar of diving competitions throughout the year. We will make a commitment to bring our child to participate in such competitions. There will be a $45 Coach fee for each child for local meets. The coaches’ expenses will be divided by the amount of diver in the event. There will be a $120 coaching fee per Regional, $160 Zone, $200 National plus coach’s expenses (transportation, room and board) per competition per child. The coach’s expenses will be divided by the amount of diver in the event. These fees are for Junior Olympic divers. This fee will be added to the monthly bill. PAYMENTS: All payments are due on the 1st of each month and are considered late if not received by the 10th of each month. A $15 LATE CHARGE FEE will be assessed on any past due balance. If any member reaches an unpaid balance of 2 months, such a member will not be able to practice until balance is cancelled. CODE OF CONDUCT I agree to abide by this Code of Conduct at all times while associated with the Miami Diving Team. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to promote the best possible individual and team performance. It is also designed to promote a positive image for the Miami Diving program, its staff and athletes. GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT: 1. Try your hardest at all time. Strive for your potential each and everyday day. 2. Be here because YOU want to be here! To be successful, the determination to do so must come from within YOU! 3. Make consistent attendance a priority. 4. Treat coaches, teammates, parents and facility staff with courtesy and respect. 5. Be prepared each day. Bring the equipment you will need each day to train. 6. Support and encourage team at all times. 7. Maintain a positive attitude at all times. 8. Do what the coaches ask when they ask it. 9. Set goals. 10. Understand that profanity, smoking, drinking or use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated I agree to abide by this Code of Conduct at all times while associated with the Miami Diving Team. Rules and Regulations: The Miami Diving program has adopted specific policies and procedure that are necessary for proper, orderly an effective operation of the program. We advise all parents to review these policies. All athletes and parents are expected to know and abide by these rules. DIVERS: Clothing: All divers are asked to come with Speedo bathing suit, tennis shoes, team T-shirt, team shorts, and towel. Bad language: Bad language during workout will not be tolerated. A diver can be excused from practice for that day. If the situation persists, the diver could be excused for a week. If the situation does not change, the diver will be expelled from the team. Poor attitude: It is important that all divers come to practice with a good attitude. Those diver showing poor attitude or misbehave during workouts will be excuse from practice that day. If the situation persists, the diver could be excused for a week. If the situation does not change, the diver could be expelled from the team. Illness: If you are sick (i.e. cold, ear infection, etc.) we still expect you to come to practice. You will not be asked to dive. There are plenty of dry-land exercises you can do without getting in the water. However, if you are really sick, you must call Coach Di Fazio and let him know as to when you anticipate returning to practice. PARENTS: 1. All divers must be at the pool at least 5 min. before practice starts. All children under 13 must be accompanied to the pool by an adult. 2. All divers must be picked up no later than 10 min. after their practice is over. If you are going to be late please let us know. 3. All parents are asked to wait by the lobby area during workouts time. Parents are not allowed on the pool deck. 4. If you need to talk to one of the coaches, please do not interrupt the coach during the class. You can contact them either before or after the class, or by phone. 5. If your child is competing at a diving meet in our facility, you are expected to help running the meet (concession stands,score keeping, etc.) 6. Payments are due the 1st of each month. You do not to get an invoice to pay your bill. Please pay your bill on time! 7. Absolutely prohibited for any children to wait at the lobby, game room, and locker room of the pool building. They can only wait on the pool deck. 8. We are not responsible of children after scheduled practice time is over. We are not responsible of children in the bathroom or locker room. I have read and understood all Miami Diving Team rules and policies. I also understand that by initialing this agreement I am committed to abide by these rules and policies.
  • How old does my child needs to be to be part of the camp?
    The camp is design from children 6 and older. Your child does not need to have any experience to be part of the camp.
  • What activities do the campers do at the camp?
    The objective of the Summer Diving Camp is for Children 6 and older to learn, improve, and have fun by switching station using our dry-land area which includes extensive use of the trampoline, mats, and diving workouts to improve dives in the water. Each group will be divided by age and ability. ​ Diving Camp Schedule: ​ 8:45 - 9:00 Drop-off 9:00 - 10:00 Stretching, Conditioning (Kids are divided in different groups and stations) 10:00 - 11:30 Diving Instruction (Skill are instructed by age and ability) 11:30 - 12:15 Lunch* (Children can bring or buy lunch) 12:15 - 12:45 Game Room (Games , Art and Craft, Movies) 12:45 - 2:15 Diving Instruction (Skill are instructed by age and ability, Water Games, etc.) 2:15 - 2:30 Pick-up (Pick-up)
  • What does my child needs for the camp?
    Items to bring in their dive bag everyday: Refillable Water Bottle – with Names Clearly marked for easy identification. Hand Sanitizer Extra Face Mask Sun Block (we will re-apply after the lunch break) Dry Towel Sandals Sweatshirt/Sweater (it can be cold if we are indoors) Lunch or Lunch Money for purchase from the food court. ($10. Daily average)
  • What time is drop off and pick up?
    Drop-off is 8:45am - 9:00am Pick-up time is 2:30pm. For the first day of camp (Monday), campers need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian to the gate, at the side of the pool for check in. (First Day only). Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult by the time of check in. Parents are not allowed to enter the pool complex. For the remainder of the week, campers can be dropped off at the traffic circle located at the end of Stanford Drive. Afternoon Pick-ups will also take place at Stanford Drive Circle. Parking is available at the Pavia Garage. Please do not park at the circle on Stanford Dr.
  • Can I sign up my child for a week at a time?
    Yes. You do not have to sign up for more that one week. However, we cannot assure that a spot will be availble for another week. Limited spaces available!
  • What is your COVID-19 Safety Procedure?
    Before you leave home Before leaving home for camp, all parents/campers and coaches must fill out a health check survey online at https://umiami.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cYKLkczu3AN5S8m. This must be done every day you come to camp. Do not attend camp if you, your child, or a member of your household does not feel well. If temperature is 100 or above, do not come to camp and let us know. No campers will enter the pool without the health check survey. When approaching the gate, maintain 6 feet social distancing at all times except for immediate family. Camper/Divers must arrive in their swimsuit. Emergency Restroom use only with the Buddy system in place maintaining 6 feet social distancing and wearing masks. Divers who want to bring a water bottle must have their names clearly marked on the bottle and not share. Divers will bring their own towel. Parents may bring their campers/divers to the side gate entrance but will not be allowed to enter the pool. Entering the facility (Whitten University Center pool) Campers will be entering the pool through the side gate by the dryland area maintaining social distancing. Only Campers will be permitted to enter the pool. Camper’s temperature check will take place at the gate before entering the pool. Divers will proceed to sanitize their hands and go to the designated areas on the dryland area. Divers will maintain 3 feet social distancing at all times. Diving Camp practice Guidelines Procedure: Divers will be sent one-by-one to the designated marked areas on the diving pool area and strictly stay on the marked rotation. Traffic patterns exiting pool after execution of dive will be specified. All high-touch areas will be sanitized before and after each practice. Coach will be located on the dock designated area maintaining a 3ft social distancing at all times. Any athlete, parent, or coach who does not follow the listed general and camp practice guidelines will be reminded of the guidelines. If behavior persists, then they will be immediately asked to leave. Once camp is over, divers will leave one-at-a-time using the designated traffic flow to exit the pool. Exiting the pool will be done through the side gate by the dryland area. The figure below shows the traffic pattern and waiting position while practicing. Lunch Time: All campers, coaches, and CIT will wear masks while buying food inside the building. Mask can be me removed while eating. All campers, coaches, and CIT will practice at leat 3ft safe distance outside. Lightning: In case of lightning, all campers and coaches will wear masks inside the building.
